This is Keleon Rockett, he is a 26 year old Muslim living in America. While he is not the ideal image of what most Americans considr to be Muslim. He is not from the middle east, he does not wear a turban, and he is not a terrorist. Too many Americans have associated the religion with the terrorist of September 11th 2001 and it is the objective of this documentary to explore the Muslim world inorder to give new meaning to the religion. I believe that if Americans could seize the opportunity to understand and shed the ignorance, then the Muslim community could live amongst the rest of the world without fear of judgement.
This is a photo of my mother and I. She along with the rest of my family have a mystery that dates back to the 70's. I have never met my mothers mom because she pasted away around 1986. It was found that my grandmother had Schizophrenia andshe frequently attended Oaklawn for theropy. However, one day out of the blue my grandmother got into her car and drove. She drove south until she arrived in Mississippi. Where the police say she parked on a bridge over a busy highway climbed the edge and jumped. The police ruled her death a suicide, however it was found that she did not jump she was hit by a car, on purpose. Days after she was hit by the car, the man responsible was murdered before police could speak with him. Not even a year after my grandmothers death my great uncle (my grandfathers brother) was found stabbed to death. It was later discovered that my grandfather was having an affair with his brothers wife and soon after my great uncles funeral my grandfather and great aunt announced they were getting married. My grandfather and great aunt have both past away, but my family has to know, did my grand father murder my grandmother and my great uncle only to have my great aunts hand in marraige?
The American Immigrant
The concept of this Documentary is to show the struggles of an immigrant trying to make it in America. This country which was founded from immigrants, promises the "American Dream" as long as you are willing to work hard. There are plenty of immigrants from around the world who have worked there whole life to make a better tomorrow for their families. Yet, this country degrades them for it and makes it almost impossible to abide by all the rules and jump through all the hoops. And because of this many immigrants are afraid to come forth and begin the naturalization process because the fear of deportation. Then again, there are people who have came to this country to no fault of their own, brought by their parents and they too are forced to deal with the hassel and the broken immigration system. What I want to say with this film is that there are immigrants out there who pay taxes, who play by the rules, who do not take the jobs from the american public. Also, why does it make sense to allow almost half if not more of the American public to sit on their butts, living off of welfare, and allowing the Government to take care of their seven children, when there are hard working people out there that are actually willing to contribute to society and make somthing of themselves. Seriously this country needs to look at the fact and reform immigration as soon as possible.
Your first subject could be very powerful and could leave a big impact. I'd be really interested in hearing Keleon's story.
ReplyDeleteAll of your ideas sound like they'd provide very great documentary ideas. The first idea could be very socially relevant for the particular international circumstances, and could be very powerful for that reason.
ReplyDeleteExcellent topics. #1 and #2 are most interesting. #3 is more difficult to conquer the subject matter in 5 min. unless you are focusing on a particular family. Your family story would make a great personal doc.
